ASPEN, Colo. – Alex Massie of Barrie, Ont., was Canada’s lone medallist on the last day of the Winter X Games in Aspen, Colo., with a silver in snowboard cross adaptive Sunday.

The 20-year-old, who won bronze in the same event in 2015, finished second to Matti Suur-Hamari of Finland in the final. American Ben Tudhope took bronze.

Canadians claimed 11 medals in total at the four-day X Games, including five gold.

Regina snowboarder Mark McMorris defended his slopestyle title and finished second in big air to gold medallist Max Parrot of Bromont, Que. Sebastien Toutant of L’Assomption, Que., placed second behind McMorris in slopestyle.

Spencer O’Brien of Courtney, B.C., earned gold in women’s snowboard slopestyle.

Canada’s ski cross team collected four of six medals with Calgary’s Brady Leman and Kelsey Serwa of Kelowna, B.C., taking men’s and women’s gold respectively.

Olympic champion Marielle Thompson of Whistler, B.C., was second behind Serwa and Montreal’s Chris Del Bosco earned men’s bronze.

Brett Turcotte from Kamloops, B.C., took bronze in freestyle snowmobile.
