MANILA – According to an unnamed source, Senator Grace Poe will be joining the presidential race in next year’s national elections and will announce her candidacy tomorrow.

The source, who was from Poe’s camp, also disclosed that her declaration will be made at the University of the Philippines (UP). In here, she will deliver a 12-minute speech, formally announcing her interest in running for president in the coming general elections and refuting issues hurled against her.

The neophyte senator’s declaration will be witnessed by invited government officials, family and friends.

Should Poe indeed seek the country’s highest post, she will be going against Vice President Jejomar “Jojo” Binay and former Interior Secretary Manuel “Mar” Roxas II who earlier announced their candidacies.

Senator Francis “Chiz” Escudero, her supposed running mate ,was expected to announce his vice-presidential on Thursday.

Meanwhile, President Benigno “Noynoy” Aquino III seemed unaffected by reports that the senator would join the presidential race. He asserted that the ruling Liberal Party (LP) was now platform oriented.

“Why should we be worried of her announcing her plans?

We really would like to hear what she says. Are we worried? No, we are not worried. I think the party stands on a particular platform.

We are moving away from personality politics to platform-based politics,” Aquino said.
