MANILA — Should there be a remake of the ’90s hit series “Tabing Ilog,” Kaye Abad wants Kathyrn Bernardo to take on her role as Eds.

In an interview for the entertainment site, Push, Abad said that Kathryn’s Filipina features perfectly fits Eds’ role.

“Magagaling na rin ‘yung mga bata ngayon eh, pero siguro bilang Eds, I would say Kathryn Bernardo kasi parang ako eh — very Filipina, very simple,” she said.

(The teens today are doing quite well. But for Eds’ role, I would say Kathryn Bernardo because she resembles me — very Filipina, very simple.)

She also added that Daniel Padilla, Kathryn’s onscreen partner will also fit the role of Rovic, originally played by John Lloyd Cruz.

Abad also said that she has been looking forward for a reunion project with the other casts of Tabing Ilog.

“Yes, super gusto namin ‘yan. Even before pa marami akong naririnig na mga fans ng ‘Tabing Ilog’ before na sana mag-reunion. Yes, we were really hoping for that sana pero sa schedule naming lahat, parang mahirap na mapagsama-sama kaming lahat pero malay natin sabi ko nga kahit ‘MMK’ lang na magkakasama kaming lahat bakit hindi?” she said.

(Yes. We really want that. Even before, we’ve been hearing a lot of requests from fans to have a reunion for the cast of ‘Tabing Ilog.’ Yes we were really hoping for that but our schedules make it hard for us to get together again. Who knows we’ll have that reunion even in an ‘MMK’ episode, right? Why not?)
