Gov’t knows MILF coddling Marwan — Cayetano

MANILA — Senate Majority Leader Alan Peter Cayetano on Tuesday said that the government knows that the Moro Islamic Liberation Front (MILF) has been coddling Malaysian terrorist Zulkifli bin Hir, also known as Marwan.

He added that he had evidence  and will continue gathering evidence to prove this claim.

“I’m gathering evidence and we already have preliminary evidence that the government knew and the government knows that the MILF was coddling Marwan,” Cayetano told reporters in an interview.

“So hindi totoo na wala silang conclusion at hindi totoo na hindi alam ng gobyerno na MILF ang nagka-coddle kay Marwan,” he said.

(Therefore it is not true that they do not have any conclusion and that the government do not know that the MILF is coddling Marwan.)

The senator added that he will be disclosing the evidences to the public at a proper time.

“In a few days, we will complete our research but as early as now, I can tell you that we have evidence,” he said.

However, the senator refused to give details when asked up to what level was government’s knowledge of MILF’s offer of protection to Marwan.

“Let me complete the research but (the information is) very, very glaring.”

The senator made the statement following the expression of his disappointment over the reported agreement of the House of Representatives and the Senate leaders to pass the proposed Bangsamoro Basic Law by June this year.
