MANILA — The Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA) on Monday released a traffic management plan including road closures and reroutes for the Chinese New Year countdown activities in some areas of Caloocan and Valenzuela cities on Wednesday (February 18).

According to MMDA, the Caloocan City Department of Public Safety and Traffic Management came out with a rerouting scheme and road closures to take effect on Wednesday (Feb. 18)

There will be a partial closure of the south side of Epifanio delos Santos Avenue (EDSA) from BMC to B. Serrano Avenue in Caloocan City, which will be used as the activity area for the festivities.

The rerouting scheme will be implemented starting 5 p.m.

The north side of EDSA will experience “two-way” traffic between A. De Jesus to BMC.

On the other hand, buses going from EDSA to Valenzuela are encouraged to turn right at Gen. Simon and turn left to Calle Cuatro while other vehicles will proceed to the rotunda and turn right to McArthur.

Vehicles going from EDSA to Sangandaan may take the alternate route by turning left at A. De Jesus and turning right to 10th Avenue.

Meanwhile, vehicles traveling along McArthur and going to Balintawak are instructed to counter flow at north side of EDSA and merge to right side traffic at the U-turn slot before A. De Jesus Street, while vehicles from Samson Road going to Balintawak should turn right to Rizal Avenue exit and take the 10th Avenue and B. Serrano to EDSA.

According to MMDA, Rizal Avenue Ext. will be closed to traffic from 10th Avenue to BMC. Vehicles traveling along these areas are advised to turn right at 10th Avenue and turn left at B. Serrano Avenue.

MMDA also advised motorists to avoid the said areas and use alternate routes instead.
