MANILA — The world-acclaimed Le Boheme opera in four acts of Giacomo Puccini uploads in high definition (HD) series on Jan. 13 at Greenbelt Cinema 3 at 6:30 p.m. through the Metropolitan Opera.

The highly popular Le Boheme will be presented through the unified effort of the Cultural Center of the Philippines, The New York Metro Opera, the Filipinas Opera Society Foundation Inc. and the Ayala Malls and Cinemas at the culture and art hub of Greenbelt.

La Bohème was composed by Puccini to an Italian libretto by Luigi Illica and Giuseppe Giacosa, based on Scènes de la vie de bohème by Henri Murger.

The world premiere performance of La Bohème was in Turin on Feb.1,1896 at the Teatro Regio and conducted by the young musical genius Arturo Toscanini.

Italian opera repertory is never complete without Le Boheme. It is an Italian standard which is one of the most frequently performed operas universally loved.

Other scheduled screenings of Met Opera productions for this season are: Werther on Feb. 10 and Enchanted Island on March 3.

All screenings are at 6:30 p.m. and tickets are available at Customer Service Hotline or call Greenbelt 3 Cinema at 757-3862 or 752-7883.
