MANILA — Six provinces are without power due to the devastation of Typhoon “Ruby”, said the National Grid Corporation of the Philippines (NGCP) on Sunday.

The provinces without power are Northern Samar, Eastern Samar, Sorsogon, Leyte, Iloilo and Bohol.

Based on the NGCP’s 3:00 p.m. update, the provinces have been left without power due to the following electric cooperatives in the areas affected by the typhoon — NORSAMLECO, ESAMELCO, SOLECO, DORELCO, SAMELCO, BILECO, LEYECO 2, LEYECO 3, LEYECO 4, LEYECO 5, ILECO 3, BOHECO and BOHECO 2.

The eleco’s 69 kilovolt (kv) and 138 kv transmission lines were affected by “Ruby”.

Other transmission lines which were affected by the typhoon are the 350 kv Ormoc-Cabacungan line, 230 kv Daanbantayan-Tabango Submarine Cable Line 2, 230 kv Tabango-Kananga Line 1, 138 kv Ormoc-Tongonan line and the 138 kv Babatngon-Paranas line.

On the other hand, the NGCP has already restored power in QUEZELCO, ALINDECO, BOHECO, BOHECO 2, with some parts of LEYECO 3.

Meanwhile, NGCP said power connection between Luzon and Visayas has not been affected, through the Leyte-Luzon 350 kv high voltage direct current link (hvdc) withstanding the typhoon.
