Man takes saleslady hostage using screwdriver
MANILA – A 19-year-old saleslady was held captive by a man using a screwdriver in Caloocan City Wednesday morning.
During an interview, Caloocan Police Substation 1 commander Chief Inspector Reynaldo Medina, said that the hostage-taker was identified to be Joshua Ramirez, 32 years old, resident of Raxabago, Gagalangin in Tondo, Manila.
The victim, Danica Dacer, was walking on her way to work in front of the RJ Express Terminal in Barangay Grace Park when Ramirez suddenly attacked her.
According to Medina, the suspect appeared to be under the influence of alcohol. Ramirez asked the negotiators to contact and bring his relatives to the area.
The authorities were able to rescue Dacer in less than 20 minutes after assuring Ramirez that his relatives were on their way.
The victim only sustained cuts in the neck when Ramirez brandished a three-inch long screwdriver. The suspect is currently under police custody.
