MANILA – Some members of the Philippine Senate joined the nation in celebrating the dominating victory of Filipino boxing icon Manny Pacquiao over former undefeated Chris Algieri on Sunday in Macao.

Senator Nancy Binay said the victory of Pacquiao showed that the country is the source of the world boxing champion.

“Manny, we salute you for another success! You’re an inspiration to our countrymen,” Binay said.

Binay also said Pacquiao’s win also proved that amid problems and difficulties, the Filipino can survived if they have patience, dedication, trust and belief in their abilities and to God.

Senator Joseph Victor Ejercito also lauded Pacquiao for another honor he brought for the country.

“Congratulations to our Champ, Manny Pacquiao in your win today!

The whole nation was behind you. It has been a privilege and an honor to be your friend. For the record, this was only the second time I saw him fight. And together with rest of the Filipino people, we are proud of you!” Ejercito said in a text message.
