Binay, no show in cabinet signing

MANILA – Vice President Jejomar Binay did not attend the performance contract signing of Cabinet members last Wednesday.

Following speculations of Binay’s possible fall-out with President Aquino, Presidential Communications Operations Office Secretary Herminio Coloma Jr. said that the vice president’s absence should not be singled out because other cabinet members did not attend the signing too.

Asked who the other members were, Coloma said they did not conduct any “attendance check” to note who were around and why others failed to attend.

Meanwhile, Joey Salgado, Binay’s spokesman said that the Vice President was earlier scheduled to attend a gathering of the Philippine Chamber of Commerce and Industry (PCCI) during that day.

“The speech before the PCCI last Wednesday had been set in advance and provided the Vice President the opportunity to interact with the business community on their concerns,” Salgado said.
