MANILA — Being the second choice for the movie “Maria, Leonora, Teresa,” does not bother actress Iza Calzado.

“I’m not really part of the original cast,” said Calzado during an interview last September 4. “So when Direk Wenn (Deramas) called me up to tell me that I’m going to play part in the movie, I initially told him that I have to prepare for some shows. But he insisted that I should be in it.”

Calzado is set to play the role of Faith in the said movie. The character was first offered to Judy Ann Santos, but she could not proceed with the project due to some circumstances.

During the interview, Director Wenn Deramas clarified that he has no idea what happened between Santos and Star Cinema.

When asked her thoughts with regard to being a second choice, Calzado said that she does not want to be picky on the projects that she gets.

“It’s a good thing that I still get projects,” Calzado said. “It doesn’t matter if you’re first, second, third, or whatever choice. These things happen. You will never succeed if you’re going to mull over being second rated.”

She added that Santos gave her blessing regarding the project as relayed by her manager Noel Ferrer. The movie is set to hit the big screen on September 17.

This year is a very busy one for Calzado. She already had three movies so far which include “Starting Over Again,” “Somebody to Love,” Barber’s Tales.” In addition, she also stars in TV series “Hawak Kamay” with Piolo Pascual.

“It’s tiring, and overwhelming, but at the end of the day, they are still blessings,” said Calzado.

Regarding her love life, she revealed that she does not have plans yet of settling down with non-showbiz boyfriend Ben Wintle. But she shared that they have a very stable relationship.
