MANILA, Philippines – In preparation for his presidential candidacy in 2016, Vice President Jejomar Binay has announced that he is mulling over the idea of having former senator Manuel Villar as his running mate.

Binay, who ran under the opposition United Nationalist Alliance (UNA) in 2010, likewise revealed that he will be kicking-off a new party come first quarter of 2015. He added that t his new political party would have been launched on June 12 of this year, but other issues, such as the pork barrel scandal, proved of greater importance.

He likewise clarified yet again that news that the Liberal Party was planning to adopt him as its presidential candidate in 2016 did not stem from him.

“We just heard that they were talking about it. They planned to adopt me. Once you are adopted, it means that you will be their guest candidate,” he said.

The Vice President also disclosed that UNA is weighing their options, and thinking about Sarangani Rep. Manny Pacquiao, Sen. Vicente Sotto III, Valenzuela Mayor Sherwin Gatchalian and former Manila mayor Lito Atienza to fill its senatorial bill of candidates for 2016.
