Cinema One celebrates 20th year with concert

MANILA — Cinema One recently celebrated its 20 years in showbiz through a star-studded anniversary concert. This is their way of showing their appreciation for all the support that they get from their fans. Cinema One is a top-rating channel on cable households.

KC Concepcion hosted the celebration that featured the some of the country’s best local artists which include Angeline Quinto, KZ Tandingan, Jed Madela. The trio started off the show by singing the channel’s anniversary theme song, “Parang Sine/Laging Kasama.”

The opening number was followed by several production numbers that featured various genres. Hajji Alejandro delivered a romance-themed number with Verni Varga, Princess Velasco, Chrstian Bautista, Rachel Gerodias, Sam Concepcion and Morisette Amon.

Meanwhile, Yeng Constantino and Raimund Marasigan performed an indie-inspired number. All the performances were backed up by the music of the ABS-CBN PhilHarmonic Orchestra.

The artists came together to perform on stage some of the best songs from Philippine cinema.

For instance, Pokwang took the stage to do what she does best – stand-up act – wherein she gave the audience a sample of her favorite moments in the movies where she had starred in.

Aside from the special numbers, they also took time to pay tribute to some of Philippine movie industry’s icons which include Fernando Poe Jr. and comedian Dolphy. Their awards were accepted by their respective family members.

Cinema One also recognized two of the most important female personalities in the showbiz industry, the Star for all Seasons Vilma Santos and the Superstar Nora Aunor.

Cinema One is seen in almost 100 percent of cable operators across the country and throughout the world through their partner Cinema One Global. It continues to provide viewers with quality programs that showcase the best of the Philippine movie industry.

The anniversary concert may be viewed on Cinema One on August 15 through pay-per-view.
