MANILA — Junking the female lawyer’s petition to be held at the Philippine National Police (PNP) Custodial Center at Camp Crame, Sandiganbayan sent lawyer Jessica “Gigi” Reyes to Camp Bagong Diwa police jail in Taguig.

Reyes was the former chief of staff of Senate Minority Leader Juan Ponce Enrile and is also now facing charges for her involvement in the pork barrel scam.

The said camp is remembered for a riot which caused the death of several Abu Sayyaf terrorists in 2005.

Presiding Justice Amparo Cabotaje-Tang of the anti-graft court’s Third Division reiterated that the rules states that the accused must be detained in a facility under the Bureau of Jail Management and Penology (BJMP).

Compared to her original detention place at the Quezon City Jail, the Camp Bagong Diwa facility is less crowded.

Chief Inspector Elena Rocamora, warden of the Quezon City Jail Female Dormitory earlier noted that the QC jail could not handle a high-value inmate.
