MANILA – The upcoming 2016 elections makes Ai Ai Delas Alas “seriously” think about running for public office.

“I am seriously thinking about it. I’m thinking about it 10 times,” Delas Alas was quoted saying in an article written by editor Ricky Lo and published by the Philippine Star.

“Showbiz is my bread and butter. Alam niyo naman ‘yan, so kailangang pag-isipan ng mabuti [kung tatakbo ba ako],” the comedienne added.

Ai Ai made the announcement in a press conference held for her upcoming concert at Solaire Resorts and Casino.

She also added that she is not afraid to put her life story in public probe the moment she decides to run for public office.

“Am I afraid that my past might be dug up during the campaign? Alam ng publiko ang buong buhay ko, (The public knows my story) I never hide anything kaya wala na silang mahahalukay (so they won’t be able to dig anything) against me,” she added.

The comedienne also said she admired Batangas Governor Vilma Santos who also ventured politics after years in show business.

“When she ran for Mayor of Lipa City, they were saying na wala siyang alam sa (that she did not know anything about) public service dahil artista lang siya (because she is only an actress). She was re-elected not just once but twice and after serving three terms as Lipa mayor, she got elected governor. Kaya nga bow ako kay Ate Vi, eh, (That’s why I bow to Ate Vi),” she said.
