President Aquino names new gov’t execs

MANILA –- Malacanang on Tuesday announced the appointment by President Benigno S. Aquino III of nine officials for various government agencies.

Presidential Spokesman Edwin Lacierda said former San Miguel Foods Inc. president Arthur O. Juan has been named as member of the National Food Authority council to serve the unexpired term of Orlan Calayag that ends on June 30.

Lacierda said the President also appointed Romulo Arancon Jr. as member of the Governing Board of the Philippine Coconut Authorities.

Arancon is the executive director of the Asia & Pacific Coconut Community Jakarta and former Philippine Coconut Authority department manager/director.

He said Emerita Garon, the president and co-founder of pre-school group Golden Values School, Inc., was named as private sector representative in the Governing Board of the Early Childhood Care and Development Council.

Lacierda said ABS-CBN Vice President Ramon Osorio and Philippine Board on Books for Young People Chairman Luis Gatmaitan were appointed members of the National Council for Children’s Television for a term of three years.

Also recently appointed were Donna Gordove, Arthur Salazar and Nonito Tamayo as Directors 3; and Leo Van Juguan as Director 2 of the Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR).

Lacierda said President Aquino signed their appointments on June 18.
