MANILA – Two weeks after he first admitted that they tried but failed to bring their relationship to the next level, Paulo Avelino said his “’special relationship” with KC Concepcion may not have taken off yet; but it’s definitely not over.

On Sunday, Avelino was interviewed by “The Buzz” host Boy Abunda, who asked him to shed light on the real deal between him and Concepcion, amidst rumours that the two are no longer dating.

Avelino then said: “Ang masasabi ko siguro hindi pa talaga nagte-take off but it’s not over.”

In earlier interviews, Avelino pointed to the distance between him and KC as one of the factors affecting their relationship. Concepcion was away for some moths, taking an acting course in New York City. She is now back in the Philippines.

As for Concepcion, she confessed that she loves Avelino via text message to “Kris TV” writer Darla Sauler.

The message, sent in April, reportedly read: “No comment except… Basta, mahal ko siya. Yun lang. :)”

Avelino confessed to dating Concepcion in November last year, shortly after weeks after he confirmed his separation from former girlfriend, actress LJ Reyes, the mother of his son.

The actor is currently promoting the series “Sana Bukas Pa Ang Kahapon.” He expressed his hopes that the soap will garner the same level of support received by “The Legal Wife.”

“Nakaka-pressure lalo na napakataas ng ratings nila and naging very controversial. Sa ngayon, nakakakaba rin dahil bukas na kami eere. Ine-expect lang namin na sana yung sumuporta ng ‘Legal Wife’, ganun din ang gawin sa ‘Sana Bukas Pa Ang Kahapon,'” he said.

Directed by Jerome Pobocan and Trina Dayrit, “Sana Bukas Pa Ang Kahapon” will also star Dina Bonnevie, Maricar Reyes, Tonton Gutierrez, and Albert Martinez.

The soap airs June 16 on ABS-CBN’s primetime lineup.
