MANILA – Pork barrel scam lawyer Levito Baligod married former mayoralty candidate Marilou “Malot” Veloso-Galenzoga, months after he was dropped as lawyer for the whistleblowers.

In an intimate ceremony at the San Antonio de Padua Church in Silang, Cavite on Wednesday, Baligod remarried after losing his wife to cancer in 2013.

Galenzoga’s chief of staff said that the couple has chosen to avoid publicity adding that the ceremony was not meant for VIPs.

The wedding was exclusive only for family, close friends, and Galenzoga’s political staff and no other politicians except for Vice President Jejomar Binay — who was invited as principal sponsor.

Although Binay is not personally acquainted with Baligod, he is a close friend of Galenzoga who became his local leader during the 2013 elections.

The bride’s sister, Carlyn Ann Galenzoga, earlier disclosed in a Rappler report that the couple met in a party held at their sister, Dayday Dieza’s house in 2013.

The courtship started only later after the Super Typhoon Yolanda during a difficult time in the bride’s mayoral campaign.
