Though he is more known as a dramatic actor, John Lloyd Cruz didn’t have a hard time stepping into the comedian’s shoes this time.

Just recently, Cruz’s latest sitcom “Home Sweetie Home” premiered on ABS-CBN, where he plays Toni Gonzaga’s husband.

The two had already worked in the 2010 film “My Amnesia Girl” that‘s why Cruz didn’t find it hard to collaborate anew with Gonzaga.

Cruz said, “I don’t think it would be this easy if I’m paired with someone else. I learned a lot from her (Toni), as well as from Direk Bobot (Edgar Mortiz).”

Playing it naturally

Cruz added that he is lucky that his director lets him act naturally, giving him the liberty to deliver humorous scenes on his own.

And when asked if he was being guided by his girlfriend Angelica Panganiban, who is a mainstay of the gag show “Banana Split”, he said that Panganiban has no doubts that he can give justice to his role.

He also added that his girlfriend was never jealous of his leading ladies even in the past, “I’m thankful that I have a very understanding girlfriend. We are able to separate personal problems from work-related issues. Angel (Panganiban’s nickname) and I don’t discuss work when we’re together. Besides, Angel has no reason to feel jealous or insecure.”

“Home Sweetie Home” airs every Sunday night and also features Sandy Andolong, Rico J. Puno, Miles Ocampo, Clarence Delgado, Jason Gainza and Mitoy Yonting.
