MANILA – Caloocan City Rep. Edgar Erice revealed that Interior Secretary Mar Roxas will continue negotiating with Senator Grace Poe to convince her to be his running mate in next year’s polls.
“Our assumption right now is that Secretary Mar will be our presidential bet and we are considering as vice president Sen. Grace Poe,” Erice said.
He added that the Liberal Party remains confident that they will convince Poe to run with Roxas, who is the presumptive standard-bearer of the administration.
“To afford due courtesy to Senator Poe, President Aquino, Secretary Mar and Senator Drilon are the only persons in the LP who can talk to her on that matter,” the lawmaker said.
“They’ve already (Roxas and Poe) met on a few occasions and we expect them to sit down again to talk some more on the details,” said Erice.
He added that Roxas was also eyeing to have Davao City Mayor Rodrigo Duterte’s support.
“There is now a bigger chance that Mayor Duterte will support Secretary Roxas,” Erice said.

I really admire Secretary Mar. He could have always opted to campaign seeing that others already do and frankly have a head start. But he did not. That is the kind of public servant we are looking for.
