Cebu Coast Guard suspends sea travel in northern Cebu due to ‘Crising’

CEBU CITY–The Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) Cebu Station on Saturday morning suspended sea travel from Hagnaya Port in San Remigio and Santa Fe Port in Santa Fe in Bantayan Island due to tropical depression Crising.

Commander Dionlett Ampil, PCG Cebu Station chief, no vessels was allowed to leave from these ports since 8 a.m. Saturday.

Ampil said the vessels plying these ports were not allowed to sail after the state weather bureau raised typhoon signal number one over northern Cebu.

Other areas placed under signal number one are Sorsogon, Burias Island, Romblon, Masbate including Ticao Island, Aklan, Antique, Iloilo, Capiz, Northern Cebu, Northern Negros Occidental, Northern Samar, Eastern Samar, Samar, Biliran, Leyte and Southern Leyte.

Crising was located at 185 kilometers East of Guiuan, Eastern Samar at 8 a.m. Saturday.

Its maximum winds is up to 55 kilometers per hour near the center and gustiness of up to 68 kilometers per hour.

But Engr. Al Quiblat of the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa) Mactan, said Crising is not expected to make a landfall in northern Cebu.
