VP Leni admits losing to Bongbong’s propaganda war
MANILA—Vice President Leni Robredo admitted she is losing the propaganda war to former Senator Ferdinand Marcos Jr., whom she defeated in the 2016 vice presidential elections.
In a chance interview, Robredo said the vast social media machinery of Marcos continue to twist facts and condition the minds of the public that she cheated by endlessly propagating rumors that she is afraid of his election protest.
“We have lost in the propaganda front. They have a story for our every move, sometimes even before it happens. This is why I’ve said that the Marcoses are difficult foes. They have the capability, their infrastructure in social media is in place. We don’t have that kind of resources,” she said.
Marcos who lost to Robredo by slightly more than 200,000 votes, has called on the Supreme Court to order a recount of votes due to alleged irregularities in 662 voting precincts.
The camp of the vice president has questioned Marcos’ submitted affidavits for only 54 of the municipalities of more than 600 clustered precincts covered by his protest.
“We are not seeking to delay the recount. We are only asking where their evidence is. He claimed he has proof of electoral fraud, where then is the evidence?” she explained.
Robredo stressed that she knew she won fair and square as she is not capable of cheating. The case is being heard by the Presidential Electoral Tribunal.
