MANILA –The Bureau of Internal Revenue (BIR) on Tuesday filed a tax evasion complaint before the Department of Justice (DOJ) against a local business engaged in selling body care products.
The BIR said that they filed charges of tax evasion amounting to PHP12.9 million covering the tax year periods of 2011-2013 against Body Needs and Basics Inc.
(Body Needs) and its president Mark Ian L. Espiritu and Treasurer Ma. Cecilia L. Espiritu.
The BIR accused the company of willful attempt to evade or defeat payment of withholding tax on compensation (February 2012 to December 2013) and expanded withholding tax (EWT) (January 2011 to December 2013) and deliberate failure to pay/remit withholding tax on compensation (February 2012 to December 2013) and expanded withholding tax (January 2011 to December 2013).
”The Body Needs failed to pay the corresponding taxes due on various returns filed (electronically) for taxable years 2011 to 2013,” The BIR said.
