Denise Laurel postpones wedding this year

MANILA – Kapamilya actress-host Denise Laurel explained her long engagement with basketball player Solomon Mercado, stressing that they still have a lot to prepare for the much-awaited day.

“I still need more time… I had no idea it would be this difficult,” she said in a press conference. “I got overwhelmed with putting our families’ schedule together… If you invite one person, you’re going to want to invite everyone.

It’s tough to get everybody here, especially family members from the United States.”

The celebrity couple got engaged three years ago but has been putting the wedding on hold because of conflicting schedules and difficulty in finalizing finances.

“To get married these days is no joke… I didn’t know that a simple (wedding) would cost something like 2.

5 million (pesos)! I’m sure it’s nothing to Sol. I just want to be wise. I’m thinking not just of the wedding, but also of our would-be life together,” she added.

The 28-year-old actress, however, denied rumors that she had misunderstandings with her fiancé and that they were calling off the wedding.

“We do want to get married. If we could, we would do it in a heartbeat,” Laurel beamed.
