Comelec, Smartmatic, PPCRV execs rapped with electoral sabotage
MANILA – The officials of the Commission on Elections (Comelec), Smartmatic and Parish Pastoral Council for Responsible Voting (PPCRV) were charged with electoral sabotage before the Office of the Ombudsman (Ombudsman) on Wednesday.
The group calling itself as “Mata sa Balota”, led by Rodolfo Javellana, Jr. and “running priest” Fr. Robert Reyes, filed the complaint for electoral sabotage before the Ombudsman.
The complaint stemmed from the alleged interference of Marlon Garcia, an official of Smartmatic, in the transparency server of the Comelec for the May 9 national elections.
Also impleaded in the case are PPCRV Chairperson Henrietta De Villa for allegedly allowing the “tampering” which affected the integrity of the elections.
However, according to the Comelec, they will answer the case and will prove that there was no “cheating” such that the technical personnel of the automation service provider merely made an adjustment of the character “?” to “ñ” in the transparency server.
