Duterte maintains poll lead; Robredo overtakes Marcos in VP race Tuesday

MANILA–Davao City Mayor Rodrigo Duterte has maintained a commanding lead in the presidential derby, while Rep. Leni Robredo has overtaken her top rival, Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr.

in a tight race to the vice presidency.

Latest partial and unofficial results from the Commission on Elections Transparency Server show that as of 9 a.m., Duterte has 15,155,775 votes, followed by administration bet Manuel “Mar” Roxas with 9,112,889 votes. On third place is Sen. Grace Poe with 8,492,261. Poe is the first presidential bet to concede to Duterte Monday night.

Vice Pres. Jejomar Binay has 5,036,060 votes and Sen.

Miriam Defensor Santiago with 1,363,144.

Meanwhile, it is a neck-and-neck race to the vice presidency. After leading for about 10 hours since the start of the vote count, Marcos now finds himself trailing closely behind Robredo who now has 13,251,341 votes. Marcos has 13,124,911 votes.

The four other vice presidential candidates remained unmovable in their rankings with Sen. Alan Peter Cayetano at third rank with 5,421,493 votes, Sen. Chiz Escudero at fourth rank with 4,562,806 votes, Sen. Antonio Trillanes IV at fifth rank with 792,778 votes, and Sen. Gringo Honasan at sixth rank with 711,450 votes.

For the senatorial race, Franklin Drilon took over Joel Villanueva in the first rank.

Other candidates that entered the top 12 for senatorial posts include Tito Sotto, Panfilo Lacson, Richard Gordon, Juan Miguel Zubiri, Risa Hontiveros, Francis Pangilinan, Manny Pacquiao, Sherwin Gatchalian, Ralph Recto, and Leila de Lima.

The partial and unofficial tally as of 9 a.m. represents 89.98 percent of 92,509 clustered precincts.
