Manny Pacquiao is not yet ready to hang up his gloves.
With his victory over Bradley last Sunday, he not just regained the WBO welterweight title—he also regained an inspiration to continue his journey.
“I proved tonight that my journey in boxing will continue. A couple of more years, I can still fight,” Pacquiao said.
“Thank God for the victory,” he added.
Prior to Pacquiao’s triumph over Bradley, insiders were having doubts if the “People’s Champ” can still pull it off, citing the Filipino boxer’s lack of focus due to his many activities, including his responsibilities as congressman of Sarangani.
Bradley even questioned Pacquiao’s fire before the fight.
Pacquiao’s losses to Bradley and Juan Manuel Marquez in 2012 also contributed to critics’ doubts on the boxing icon’s ability.
But the 35-year-old boxer has once again established that he could still rule the boxing ring with his victories over Bradley and American boxer Brandon Rios last November.
“I’m very happy because I’m not discouraged by my loss to Marquez,” said Pacquiao.
When asked if he is still willing to fight Marquez for the fifth time, he said, “There’s no problem to me, it depends on my promoter Bob Arum.”
Meanwhile, his wife, Jinkee, expressed that she already wants Manny to retire, “Gaano karami pa bang pera ang kailangan mo bago ka mag-retire?” ( How much money do you still need before you retire?)
