SC’s lack of urgency on Poe’s DQ case disappoints Drilon
MANILA – Senate President Franklin Drilon expressed his disappointment over Supreme Court’s slow pace in connection with disqualification case against presidential candidate Sen. Grace Poe.
Drilon said that Poe’s disqualification case will have an impact on the country’s future and it is not an ordinary case, and the high court lacks sense of urgency.
The oral arguments being held once a week is not giving Poe’s case the urgency it needs.
Drilon said that the slow pace of the SC frustrated him, and the Court could conduct marathon hearing but chosen not to do so.
He called the high court to give Poe’s case “extraordinary attention” so the decision can be made before May 9 elections.
“The issue cannot be left hanging. The case is posing serious threats to fair and credible elections in May and only the Supreme Court’s prompt action can eliminate that threat by resolving the case at the soonest,” he said in a report by Patricia Viray of The Philippine Star.
