Tempra continues its advocacy in 2015 Run Against Dengue

Cleo Roda Nodado, Marketing Manager Taisho Pharmaceutical Phil. and Matthew Ardina, event manager Subterranean Ideas, announces the staging of Family run 2015, Run Against Dengue to be held on November 14, 2015 at the Quirino Grandstand during the PSA Forum.

MANILA, PHILIPPINES – Due to numerous cases of deadly dengue disease, Tempra, in cooperation with Subterranean Ideas stages the 2015 Run Against Dengue on Nov. 14 (Saturday) at the Quirino Grandstand.

Dengue cases grew rapidly the past two months with 23,000 affected in just a span of less than a month (Aug. 9 to Sept. 5, 2015). This is the primary reason why this Tempra is continuing its advocacy against the water-borne disease.

“Tempra felt the need to hold this Family Run advocacy because of the high cases of dengue in the past months. We felt that it is our duty to disseminate information on how to prevent the disease through this advocacy run,” said Cleo Roda Nodado, Tempra/Taisho Marketing Manager during an appearance at the Philippine Sportswriters Association (PSA) Forum at Shakey’s Malate on Tuesday.

Registration will be available at Toby’s branches at the SM Mall of Asia and SM Manila this week.

Another registration site will be at the Rizal Park Administration office.

The annual Run Against Dengue also aims to serve as an information campaign about harm brought by dengue carrying mosquitoes, and to conduct activities to fight this epidemic, using the power of collaborative efforts, using sports as one of the main tools.

“While the battle against Malaria has found global partners, dengue is being fought almost all alone by the Department of Health. It’s going to be a long battle, and we need everyone’s support,” said Subterranean Ideas’ Matt Ardina, who also appeared in the forum backed by San Miguel Corp., Philippine Amusements and Gaming Corp., Shakey’s, and Accel.

Part of net proceeds from the Run Against Dengue, now on its fourth year, shall be used for the purchase of various anti-dengue modalities, including Long-lasting Insecticidal Nets recommended by the World Health Organization in fighting vector-borne diseases like dengue.
