Manitoba legislature to resume sitting with bills on e cigarettes, class sizes
WINNIPEG – The Manitoba legislature is to resume today in a continuation of a sitting that broke for the summer last June.
The fall sitting is expected to include proposed laws to cap class sizes and restrict the use of e-cigarettes battery-operated devices that don’t contain tobacco but create a vapor that users inhale.
It’s also expected that debate will continue on the government’s budget implementation bill.
Premier Greg Selinger has said the government will also table legislation to protect children from second-hand smoke and online exploitation.
Selinger said in a statement the government is working to cap class sizes at 20 students for children in kindergarten to Grade 3.
The legislature is scheduled to sit until Dec.
