Canada’s Erdem receives two nominations at British Fashion Awards

London-based Canadian label Erdem is once again in the running at the British Fashion Awards.

Montreal-born designer Erdem Moralioglu has earned nominations for the fourth straight year at the annual awards ceremony, which is organized by the British Fashion Council.

Moralioglu is once again vying for the red carpet award which he won in 2013. He will square off against Christopher Kane, Roksanda and Tom Ford in the category, which recognizes a British designer creating global awareness of their designs in the media.

The Canadian is also in contention for the establishment designer honour, alongside Margaret Howell and Paul Smith. The award recognizes a ready-to-wear designer with a strong retail and e-commerce footprint who is also “a bastion of British fashion.”

Moralioglu nabbed womenswear designer of the year honours at last year’s ceremony. In 2012, he took home the new establishment award, an honour that recognized a particular movement in British fashion that is taking the industry by storm.

The Canadian-born designer moved to London to attend the Royal College of Art.

He moved to New York after graduation to work in the design studios of fashion icon Diane von Furstenberg before relocating to the U.K. to launch his eponymous label in 2005, known for its modern feminine designs and vibrant, custom-designed prints.

Moralioglu has established a star-studded fashion following with the Duchess of Cambridge and Oscar winners Anne Hathaway and Gwyneth Paltrow among those who have worn his creations.

In January, he was named international Canadian designer of the year at the Canadian Arts & Fashion Awards.

Winners of the British Fashion Awards will be announced at the London Coliseum on Nov. 23.
