MANILA – Filipino romantic-comedy film “That Thing Called Tadhana” (That Thing Called Destiny) bagged its first international award at this year’s Guam International Film Festival, winning the Best Narrative award.

Movie director Antoinette Jadaone was overjoyed with the recognition.

“Yay! First international FF (Film Festival) win (for any of my films) evahhh (ever)! Sweeter! Thank you!!!,” Jadaone said in her Twitter account.

I’m just happy kasi ibig sabihin nata-transcend ng ‘That Thing Called Tadhana’ ‘yung mga culture and language [ng Pilipino] and it goes to show love really is the universal language,” Jadaone said in an interview with ABS-CBN’s talk show “Tonight with Boy Abunda.”

The film starred JM de Guzman and Angelica Panganiban.

Aside from the independent film, Filipino actor Buboy Villar also won An Achievement in Acting award for his portrayal as the young Filipino boxing icon Manny “Pacman” Pacquiao in “Kid Kulafu.”
