Katerine Savard, Danielle Hanus win gold at Quebec Cup swimming competition
MONTREAL – Katerine Savard and Danielle Hanus each won gold on Sunday at the Quebec Cup swimming competition.
Savard, of Pont-Rouge, Que., finished first in her specialty event – the 100-metre butterfly – with a season best 58.
12 seconds. Savard also won the 50 butterfly on Saturday. Montreal’s Mary-Sophie Harvey was second while Hannah Genich of Ajax, Ont., finished third.
Hanus captured the 50 backstroke in 28.88 after winning the 100 event on Saturday. Lily Bellehumeur-Bechamp and Sarah Fournier, both of Quebec City, were second and third.
Toronto’s Edward Liu won the men’s 100 butterfly, with Ryan Telford of Ajax, Ont.
, taking the 200 breaststroke.
Montreal’s Victoria Poon captured the women’s 50 freestyle and Edmonton’s Tabitha Baumann finished first in the 1,500 freestyle.
