Globe open to talks with GMA
MANILA — Globe Telecom Inc. is still keen on negotiating with GMA Network Inc., following the television network’s statement of cutting talks with Ramon S. Ang for the acquisition of a minority stake in the company.
“As part of Globe’s normal business operations, the company is open to discuss other potential forms of business collaboration with various parties, including GMA,” Jose Mari Fajardo said.
He made the statement in a disclosure to the Philippine Stock Exchange (PSE) adding that the company welcomes any form of partnership with GMA.
“We wish to confirm that Globe continues to engage in discusions with GMA for potential content collaboration that would complement the businesses of the two companies,” Fajardo told PSE.
Globe currently has a partnership with GMA’s rival, ABS-CBN Corp. The telecom launched the rival company’s ABS-CBNmobile.
Aside from Globe, one of GMA’s biggest suitors is the Philippine Long Distance Telephone Co.
(PLDT) chaired by Manuel V. Pangilinan.
Pangilinan has shown interest in the media industry through TV5 and Interaksyon.com and the print industry through the Philippine STAR, BusinessWorld, and Philippine Daily Inquirer.
