MANILA — The Department of Transportation and Communications (DOTC) is currently reviewing the possibility of posting “glitch” notices for the Metro Rail Transit Line 3 (MRT-3) operations on its official website.

This was after the agency on Tuesday clarified that incident reports and not excuse letters — as earlier reported — can be requested by passengers marked tardy for taking the country’s busiest rail system.

To recall, the DOTC and the MRT-3 management denied reports that excuse letters may be issued to passengers affected by its glitches.

“At most, a copy of relevant incident reports may be released to any requesting member of the general public for whatever useful purposes this may serve, in line with the policy of transparency,” the DOTC said in a statement.

The DOTC said that these notices, which will be posted on its website, will supply details on the suspension and resumption of the MRT-3’s operations.

It will also contain the number of trains running at a given hour.

DOTC spokesperson Miguel Arthur Sagcal in earlier interviews, however said that although incident reports may be issued to passengers who request for it, it will depend on the office or school whether to honor it or not.

At present, problems of the MRT-3 are being addressed by long-term rehabilitation and improvement projects including the additional train cars.

The agency is also set to replace around 7,000 meters’ worth of rails after their delivery within the month.
