De Lima orders intelligence services to supervise NBI detention facility
MANILA — Department of Justice (DOJ) Secretary Leila M. De Lima has ordered National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) Deputy Director for Intelligence Services Jose Doloiras to supervise the NBI Detention Facility and assign new NBI agents to guard the same.
De Lima on Monday said that she issued the directive following the relief of all NBI agents who were guarding the facility after the controversial “sneaking in” of communication gadgets by the so-called “Bilibid 19”.
The supervision of the NBI detention facility was formerly handled by Deputy Director for Administration Antonio Pagatpat before Secretary De Lima transferred it to the intelligence services.
Meanwhile, De Lima said that the DOJ is “open” to those who would like to talk about the case being investigated in connection with the ‘sneaking in” of communication gadgets by NBI inmates following the surfacing of a woman who allegedly serves as a “runner” by the guards at the NBI jail.
