MANILA – Kapamilya host-actress Toni Gonzaga married longtime boyfriend director Paul Soriano on Friday at the United Methodist Church in Taytay, Rizal.

Paul, donning a Hugo Boss suit, arrived at the venue around 2 p.m. Toni, wearing a Vera Wang gown, arrived a little later. The wedding ceremony began at 3:30 p.m.

Tony Award-winning singer Lea Salonga, one of the couple’s principal sponsors, observed that the ceremony was filled with ‘love, light and humor.’

She also shared that the couple each recited a vow.

“Paul was more spontaneous with his vows while Toni recited hers more deliberately. But they were both crying,” Lea recalled.

Angeli Pangilinan-Valenciano, also one of the sponsors, reiterated Toni’s vows, ‘No more good night, no more curfews and Skype [conversations] where Paul would say he was alone again.’

After the emotional exchange of vows, the couple sealed their promises with a ‘long and loving’ kiss and a tight hug.

Angeli’s husband, Gary, sang “The Way You Look Tonight” during the wedding’s reception.

The other celebrity sponsors and guests were Manila Mayor Joseph Estrada, Senator Bongbong Marcos, ABS-CBN chair Gabby Lopez, ABS-CBN president and CEO Charo Santos-Concio, TV host Kris Aquino, TV host-talent manager Boy Abunda, Boxing champ Manny Pacquiao and celebrity cosmetic surgeon Vicki Belo.

Guests’ wishes

Actress Izza Calzado, one of Toni’s close friends in the media industry, wished the couple a beautiful partnership.

“I know Toni will be immensely blessed because she has also been a blessing to her family and friends,” she said.

Antoinette Jadaone, director of Toni’s recent film, “You’re My Boss,” hoped that the marriage will enrich the couple.

“Paul and Toni’s personalities are very different. She is very outspoken and sociable, while Paul is very quiet. This difference sort of complements them. They are yin and yang,” she said.

Toni and Paul had been in a boyfriend-girlfriend relationship for eight years before finally getting engaged earlier this year.
