Prices of flowers at Manila’s Dangwa Market are expected to increase as demand grows ahead of Undas, prompting vendors to prepare for a surge of customers paying tribute to their departed loved ones.
As of October 26, flower bundles at the popular flower market were selling for around ₱450 to ₱1,500, depending on the variety and size. Local white roses were priced at ₱450 per bundle, while Korean roses cost ₱650.
Other varieties were also available at different price points. Medium-sized anthuriums were selling for ₱850 per bundle, while orchids reached ₱1,500. Radus bundles were priced at around ₱450.
Ready-made floral arrangements cost between ₱550 and ₱1,700, depending on their design and the flowers used.
Vendors expect prices to begin climbing as early as Wednesday, October 28, with demand likely to intensify in the days leading up to All Saints’ Day on November 1 and All Souls’ Day on November 2.
The annual Undas tradition typically brings families to cemeteries to offer flowers, light candles and remember relatives and friends who have passed away. The seasonal rush makes flowers one of the most sought-after items during the observance.
Consumers hoping to manage their expenses may consider purchasing flowers ahead of the expected price increase, while comparing prices and arrangements among vendors.
With Undas approaching, flower sellers are preparing for the anticipated rush as families make arrangements for their annual visits to cemeteries.
