Luka Doncic delivered a spectacular scoring performance to keep the Los Angeles Lakers unbeaten, while the Detroit Pistons spoiled the Philadelphia 76ers’ outing with a convincing victory in NBA action.
Doncic poured in 52 points, along with 10 assists and eight rebounds, as the Lakers rallied from an 18-point deficit to defeat the Utah Jazz, 132-123, on Sunday in Salt Lake City. He knocked down eight three-pointers and took charge late in the fourth quarter to help Los Angeles preserve its perfect start to the season.
Austin Reaves provided strong support with 29 points as the Lakers improved to 3-0. The team overcame Utah’s explosive start before pulling ahead in the closing minutes, with Doncic hitting back-to-back three-pointers during a decisive run.
The Jazz were led by Lauri Markkanen, who scored 28 points, while Keyonte George added 24 points, nine rebounds and 10 assists. Utah had built a substantial early advantage but could not hold off the Lakers’ late surge.
Meanwhile, the Detroit Pistons defeated the Philadelphia 76ers, 106-93, to maintain their unbeaten start. Cade Cunningham led Detroit with 26 points, eight rebounds and eight assists, helping the Pistons improve to 3-0.
Tyrese Maxey paced Philadelphia with 29 points, but the 76ers could not keep up with Detroit’s balanced attack. The result came during LeBron James’ first season with Philadelphia after his departure from Los Angeles, marking a new chapter for both the veteran star and the Lakers.
Doncic’s scoring outburst and Detroit’s strong showing highlighted a busy day in the NBA as teams continue to establish their form early in the season.
