MANILA, Philippines — Vice President Sara Duterte was the presidential choice of half of Filipino adults in Pulse Asia’s latest survey testing possible candidates for the May 2028 elections.

In the nationwide poll conducted from September 17 to 24, 50% of respondents said they would vote for Duterte if the presidential election were held during the survey period and the listed personalities were candidates.

Naga City Mayor and former vice president Leni Robredo received 26%, while Sen. Raffy Tulfo registered 12%. Sen. Risa Hontiveros obtained 3%, Defense Secretary Gilberto Teodoro Jr. and Public Works Secretary Vince Dizon each received 1%, while Baguio City Mayor Benjamin Magalong recorded 0.3%.

Another 3% of respondents were undecided, while 3% said they would not support any of the personalities included in the survey.

Duterte’s latest figure was broadly similar to Pulse Asia’s previous presidential preference survey conducted in late June and early July, when she received 49%, while Robredo also had 26%. Tulfo stood at 14% in that earlier poll.

Duterte publicly announced in February that she intends to seek the presidency in 2028. Her declaration came more than two years before the election and while she continues to face an impeachment trial in the Senate.

Robredo, despite being included among the possible presidential choices in the survey, said in April that she does not plan to run for a national position in 2028 and is instead considering seeking another term as Naga City mayor.

The Pulse Asia survey used face-to-face interviews with 2,400 Filipino adults nationwide. It has a ±2 percentage-point error margin at the 95% confidence level.

The results represent voter preferences during the September survey period and are not a forecast of the 2028 election, which remains more than a year away.
