PHILIPPINES – Vice President Sara Duterte has posted PHP360,000 bail at a Quezon City court after an arrest warrant was issued against her over three counts of grave threats.

Duterte appeared at the Quezon City Regional Trial Court Branch 98 on Saturday, where she posted PHP120,000 bail for each count.

The warrant was issued a day earlier after the court found probable cause to proceed with the cases filed against Duterte.

The charges stem from her November 2024 online remarks in which she said she had arranged for someone to kill President Ferdinand Marcos Jr., First Lady Liza Araneta-Marcos and then-House Speaker Martin Romualdez if she herself were killed.

Duterte’s legal team has questioned the cases and previously sought their dismissal, arguing that the court lacked jurisdiction.

Before posting bail, Duterte also said she did not feel safe and feared for her life and the safety of her children, citing threats and harassment she said she had documented since 2023.

With bail posted, the arrest warrant is effectively addressed while the grave threats cases continue through the court process.
