MANILA, Philippines — President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. recognized five Filipino innovations that won the 2026 Presidential Filipinnovation Awards National Competition during a ceremony in Quezon City.

The five winners were selected from 16 finalists from across the country based on innovativeness, sustainability, scalability, marketability, potential impact and relevance.

The winning innovations are:

  1. Compact Easy to Operate & Economical Biodiesel Reactor for Benteng Diesel – developed by Capistrano Research and Development on Biotechnology.
  2. Philippine Native Chicken helping Industry through Scientific Innovations – developed by Golden Sprout Corporation.
  3. Saltric Marissa Turbine: Turning Rivers into 24/7 Power for Off-Grid Filipino Communities – developed by PDG Engineering Services.
  4. Gasification Process for Waste Disposal: Advance Waste Solution – developed by Vic Metal Fabrication and Environmental Services, Inc.
  5. OstreaVent2: A Prototype Ventilator for Mechanically Ventilated Adult Patients – developed by Breath of Life Foundation, Inc.

Marcos said the Presidential Filipinnovation Awards is envisioned as the country’s highest recognition for innovation and a platform where Filipino innovators can connect with industry partners, investors and potential markets.

He also urged innovators to work with the government in developing solutions to pressing problems including food insecurity, flooding, soil erosion and energy shortages.

The President said recognition should go beyond receiving an award, stressing that Filipino innovations should be given opportunities to develop, expand and eventually provide practical benefits to communities.

Marcos, who chairs the National Innovation Council, said innovation remains part of the government’s development agenda under the Philippine Development Plan 2023–2028, particularly in improving productivity, competitiveness and economic transformation.

He said the government would continue supporting Filipino innovators in turning their ideas into practical solutions that can improve people’s lives.
