MANILA, Philippines — More than 93,000 public school teachers and Department of Education personnel with reclassified positions are set to receive salary upgrades under the government’s Expanded Career Progression system.

The Department of Budget and Management approved the release of P8.68 billion in salary differentials for 93,344 teachers and personnel nationwide whose positions have been reclassified.

Education Secretary Sonny Angara welcomed the approval, saying the salary adjustment would help recognize and motivate teachers who have waited years for promotion.

“Malaking tulong ito sa pagmo-motivate sa ating mga teacher na matagal nang naghintay sa promotion nila,” Angara said.

He also thanked President Ferdinand Marcos Jr., Executive Secretary Ralph Recto and DBM Secretary Kim Robert de Leon for supporting the compensation upgrade.

Angara said teachers covered by the program deserve both their promotions and corresponding salary increases.

The salary upgrades apply to eligible DepEd personnel who have already been issued Notices of Organization, Staffing, and Compensation Action (NOSCA) and appointments for their reclassified positions.

The Expanded Career Progression system was designed to provide public school teachers with more opportunities for promotion and professional advancement without requiring them to leave classroom teaching for administrative positions.
