QS said the rankings indicate that Philippine institutions are struggling to keep pace with advances in other higher education systems globally.

QS Senior Vice President Ben Sowter said international competitors are moving faster, particularly in research impact, global networks and student outcomes.

He also stressed the need for stronger institutional frameworks and government support to help Philippine universities keep up with developments in global higher education.

The 2027 QS World University Rankings covered more than 1,500 universities worldwide.
