MANILA – Malacañang welcomed the Philippines’ latest investment-grade credit rating affirmations, saying these reflect continued investor confidence in the country’s economic fundamentals despite recent challenges.
Rating and Investment Information Inc. maintained the Philippines’ A- rating with a stable outlook, while Moody’s affirmed its Baa2 rating, also with a stable outlook.
Executive Secretary Ralph Recto described the twin affirmations as a vote of confidence in the Philippine economy and the administration of President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr.
“Dalawang boto ito ng kumpiyansa sa Pilipinas,” Recto said, noting that the ratings show that investor confidence in the country remains strong.
“We will protect the confidence we have earned. More importantly, we will make that confidence work for the Filipino people through more jobs, higher incomes, better infrastructure, and stronger public services,” he added.
The rating agencies cited the country’s industrial base, infrastructure and foreign investments, improving fiscal position, manageable external risks, and stable banking system as factors supporting their assessments.
They also said recent challenges, including the controversy surrounding the government’s flood control program and the economic slowdown, are unlikely to derail the country’s long-term growth prospects.
The Palace said the ratings come alongside the government’s reported progress in reducing poverty, with poverty incidence declining to 9.7 percent in 2025 from 15.5 percent in 2023.
The administration said it will continue pursuing investments, infrastructure projects, and economic reforms aimed at creating jobs, raising incomes, and strengthening public services.
