PBBM pushes long-term flood solutions in Central Luzon

PHILIPPINES – President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. inspected flooded areas in Bulacan and Pampanga to assess the impact of recent typhoons and the enhanced southwest monsoon.

During a situation briefing in Pampanga, Marcos acknowledged the need to address unfinished and damaged flood control projects, while also pointing to the unprecedented volume of rainfall that worsened flooding.

The President outlined long-term measures, including Sabo River dams to control water flow from the Sierra Madre and nearby provinces, as well as road dikes near Manila Bay to help prevent water from entering vulnerable areas.

Marcos also stressed that immediate assistance remains a priority, with affected residents continuing to receive food, shelter, and healthcare.

Meanwhile, the DPWH is preparing to repair damaged and non-operational pumping stations and flood control facilities in affected areas.

Pampanga Governor Lilia Pineda welcomed the President’s visit, saying it brought renewed attention to the province’s long-standing flooding problem.

Marcos assured residents that he will continue monitoring the situation and that the government will pursue measures to mitigate the impact of heavy rains and flooding in Central Luzon.
