MANILA – The families of the students who died in the June 22 shooting incident at a school in Tacloban City will each receive PHP150,000 in financial assistance, Malacañang announced Tuesday.
“Each family of those who died will be given financial assistance of PHP150,000,” Palace Press Officer Claire Castro said in a statement.
The suspects, aged 14 and 15, opened fire inside classrooms at the San Jose National High School in Tacloban City, leaving three students dead and 20 others injured.
Castro said the Department of Social Welfare and Development and the Department of Health would provide psychosocial services to everyone affected by the incident.
Initial investigation found that the suspects had been planning the attack since April or May.
Two females and one male were killed in the attack, while 15 sustained gunshot wounds, and five were injured after jumping to safety.
One of the suspects was reportedly addicted to a mobile game, GoreBox, which supposedly features graphic violence and gun use.
President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. expressed grief over the fatal shooting and ordered a thorough investigation.
