FRANCE – During the G7 Summit in Evian-les-Bains in France, President Donald Trump formally signed the Memorandum of Understanding between the United States and Iran.
While the ceremonial signing was due in Switzerland on Friday, Donald Trump announced that he already signed it in Versailles while dining with French President Emmanuel Macron. No official statement has been made on Iran’s side.
The war between the United States of America, Iran, and Iran first began on February 28, 2026. One of the reasons stated for it beginning in the first place is to ensure that Iran does not procure a nuclear weapon.
The document reportedly contained conditions for a ceasefire between countries, removing the naval blockade in Iran and preparing for the reopening for the Strait of Hormuz, and further negotiations to broker at least USD 300 billion for the reconstruction of the Islamic Republic of Iran. Further, the agreement stated that Iran will not procure or develop any nuclear weapons, and that the final deal will have to be endorsed by a binding resolution from the United Nations Security Council.
