LONDON — A former worker at one of Britain’s biggest hospitals has been formally cautioned after the attempt of seeking highly sensitive and personal information that’s believed to be linked to Princess Kate. It was investigated by Britain’s Information Commissioner’s Office (ICO), which concluded that this person deliberately misused confidential data for money.
The ICO began its investigation in the London Clinic last March 2024 after reports that hospital staff tried to access a patient’s medical records without authorization. Following its inquiry, the watchdog determined that a now-former employee had offered to disclose sensitive information in exchange for financial gain. The ICO said the case warranted a formal caution but did not publicly identify the patient involved.
Despite the issue, the watchdog found no evidence of broader data protection failures at the said clinic. The hospital, which has treated members of the royal family, was cleared of wider systemic issues, with the misconduct found to be limited to the actions of a single former staff member.
