Akbayan stands with fishermen

Puerto Prinsesa, Philippines – Akbayan Representatives, Perci Cendaña, Chel Diokno, Dadah Kiram Ismula, and President Rafaela David showed solidarity with the fishermen from Puerto Prinsesa on March 23, 2026. They visited for the WPS Pulong Bayan of the Atin Ito Coalitation.
The purpose behind this was to call for adequate subsidies for the fishermen affected by the continuous increase in crude oil and petroleum. Not only that, but Diokno reiterated that the issue of the West Philippine Sea wasn’t only a conversation about territories, but something that involved the livelihood, security, and future of every Filipino.
“Pag mahal mo ang mangingisda, protektahan mo, akbayan mo,” they pledged.
